Trauma, including complex/ developmental trauma
I specialize in trauma and attachment-related concerns, particularly complex early life experiences or recurring patterns that impact relationships with oneself and others.
My style is relational, warm, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity and respect. I aim to create a welcoming, nonjudgmental space where you feel seen and understood. I believe that healing happens in the context of safety and connection. The space and treatment are built together.
My approach is grounded in contemporary psychodynamic therapy and attachment theory. I also integrate other approaches based on your unique needs, drawing from trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based practices to support your goals.
The therapy process is deeply personal and varies with each individual. I find that early sessions often focus on relief—finding tools to cope and manage day-to-day. Over time, we drop into deeper layers: exploring patterns, attending to that which feels stuck, facing difficult truths, uncovering insight, and fostering growth.
While healing can sometimes be painful, it opens the door to greater connection—with yourself, with others, and with the world around you. Much like going to the gym, you may not always feel like coming, and some days you may leave with "sore muscles". But with time, you grow stronger. Shifts can be profound and lasting.
Therapy is also a process of honing an internal compass - a deeper place of knowing that can guide you even amidst the noise and uncertainty of modern life. Life rarely unfolds in predictable ways, and therapy can help you navigate uncertainty with greater self-awareness, self compassion, and resilience.
Education
I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from the Wright Institute in Berkeley. I also earned a Master’s degree in Special Education from San Francisco State University and a Bachelor’s degree in English from Brown University.
Training
I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Westcoast Children’s Clinic in Oakland, where I focused on childhood trauma, foster care, and family systems work. My postdoctoral fellowship training occurred at The Clinic California, a group practice where I provided individual therapy to adolescents and adults. Over the years, my clinical experience has spanned hospitals, schools, community mental health settings, psychological assessment clinics, and group practice. I’ve had the privilege of working with a diverse range of clients across the lifespan.
Before becoming a psychologist, I spent sixteen years as a teacher and learning specialist, an experience that continues to inform my therapeutic work today.
